Every Little Helps ... ... ...

You can help us in many ways! If you are able to give your time then we are sure we could find a volunteer role that you would find interesting. If you are able to donate money then there are a number of ways to do that: a simple donation would be very much appreciated, but, if you are able to give a small amount regularly then please consider our 'Adopt an Object' scheme where for the price of a monthly cup of coffee you will be helping us on an ongoing basis. There is more information on how you can support us below.

Make A Donation

The Woodhams Stone Collection is entirely run by volunteers and is housed in the Malton & Norton Heritage Centre. A donation however small would help towards our running costs and the purchase of archive quality materials required to store and preserve the Collection for future generations. If you should decide to donate via the PayPal button neither you nor Woodhams Stone Collection will be charged a fee for this donation.

At the end of the transaction you will be asked if you wish the payment to be made as part of the GiftAid scheme. If you are a UK taxpayer and able to do this it means that Woodhams Stone Collection can benefit by an additional 25% of your donation.

Donate eBay Proceeds

IDid you know that if you are selling something on eBay then you can elect to donate between 10% and 100% of the proceeds to charity? To do this:

  • in the listing flow, select the 'Donate a portion to Charity' option
  • Select 'Woodhams Stone Collection' from the list of available options or search for 'Woodhams Stone Collection'
  • Select the percentage you would like to donate to charity If your item sells then 21 days after the buyer pays, the PayPal Giving Fund will pass the % share of the proceeds to the Woodhams Stone Collection. Please thinkabout us when selling on eBay.

Adopt An Object

Not quite ‘adopt a rhino’ (we don’t have any) but a great opportunity to become associated with one of our objects and commit to ongoing support of our efforts here at the Malton & Norton Heritage Centre, home of the Woodhams Stone Collection. To keep it simple, the adoption cost is £3 a month - about the cost of a monthly coffee! You can treat yourself or make your adoption a gift. Adoptions are for as long as your monthly ongoing payments are made,. Once you have adopted you can come and meet your adoptee at one of our ‘adoption evenings’. You'll receive a digital adoption certificate, including a photo of the object you have chosen to adopt. You’ll be acknowledged if the object goes on display and also on our website. What’s more you’ll get a complimentary subscription to our Friends group!

How To Adopt

See our adoption gallery here! If you see something to your liking then click the 'Adopt Me!' button and you will be directed to a form on which you can let us know your details. Finally, we'll ask you to make a donation to cover the adoption fee. To do this you will need a PayPal account or be prepared to create one.

Leave A Gift In Your Will

You could support our work by leaving a gift in your Will thereby helping to secure the whole Collection’s future by making it possible for us to put funds where the need is greatest.

If you feel able to consider including a gift to The Woodhams Stone Collection in your Will please see our fact sheet or get in touch with our Chairman of Trustees via our email address at the bottom of this page.

Volunteer

Do you like meeting new people? Do you have an interest in the history of Malton and Norton? Might you like rummaging in our collections, helping catalogue objects, arranging exhibitions and events? Well, devoting a few hours a week to the Woodhams Stone Collection at the Malton and Norton Heritage Centre may be 'right up your street'. Why not get in touch and become a volunteer? Our contact details are at the bottom of this page - we would love to hear from you!

Share Knowledge

Here at the Malton and Norton Heritage Centre we don't profess to know everything! If you know something about a local building, business or one of our objects do please get in touch because we would like to make sure knowledge can be shared in the future. You can contact us via the email address below or you can make an appropriate post on the Malton and Norton Memories Facebook group page.

Donate Artefacts

You may have artefacts including ephemera with connections to the social, business or local history of Malton or Norton and that you feel it would be appropriate to donate to us. We are always interested in such items but they can only be accepted if such acceptance would comply with our collections Development Policy - which you can see on our 'Collections' page. We are aware that some donations arise from a bereavement situation - please be assured that we will treat such matters sensitively.

Malton & Norton Memories

This group is for those who are interested in life as it used to be in the twin towns of Malton and Norton. It is chiefly a showcase for photos and items from the Woodhams-Stone Collection but you are welcome to post any comments, memories or photos you may have to share.
